Sustainable values in everyday life – The Front’s commitment to responsible development
Owned by Annehem Fastigheter, The Front is a modern and forward-looking office building where sustainability is not just an objective, but an integral part of its identity. Sustainability guides decision-making both in day-to-day operations and in long-term planning. At the heart of this work is Christin Hertzberg, Head of Sustainability, who is responsible for integrating environmental and social responsibility into all aspects of the property.
Certification of Excellence: LEED Platinum
One of the cornerstones of The Front’s environmental work is its LEED Platinum certification, the highest possible level in the internationally recognised Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) scheme. This certification confirms that the building meets stringent requirements for energy efficiency, water conservation, use of sustainable materials, indoor air quality and waste management.
“Achieving LEED certification means that the building meets stringent environmental and energy efficiency standards, including energy efficiency, water conservation, sustainable materials, indoor air quality and waste reduction,” Christin explains.
According to Christin, certifications such as LEED not only validate the sustainability of a building, but also provide a framework for continuous improvement.
“Pursuing environmental certification strengthens our brand and brings value to investors. It attracts tenants with sustainability needs or desires, and by continuing to work on sustainable property management and committing to certification standards, it can ensure the long-term value and resilience of a property.”
Supporting the daily lives of tenants
The Front’s durability is not just about technical specifications, it enhances the daily experience of everyone working in the building. A sustainable building provides healthier indoor air, more comfortable temperatures and more natural light. Efficient use of energy and water also translates into lower operating costs.
The building is designed to support well-being and stress-free everyday life. Tenants can enjoy a restaurant with healthy food options, including a daily salad buffet, and services such as massage treatments, a laundry and a vending machine. Nature is always present through terraces, indoor plants and nearby outdoor areas.
“Wellbeing is at the heart of what we do. Being able to borrow a bike, book a massage or enjoy a healthy lunch can make a big difference to everyday life,” says Christin.
To promote sustainable mobility, The Front offers bike-sharing and excellent public transport connections. In addition, 37 electric vehicle charging points are available to support the shift to low-emission commuting.
Efficiency through daily actions
There is no single solution to energy efficiency, it is a continuous process. The Front’s approach is based on daily maintenance and close collaboration with energy suppliers to monitor, manage and improve building performance. Energy consumption and sustainability metrics are continuously monitored to measure and verify progress.
“It’s not about one big solution, it’s about taking care of the building and improving it every single day,” Christin stresses.
The future: focusing on social sustainability
The Front’s sustainability work is ongoing. While technical efficiency remains a priority, Christin Hertzberg emphasises the growing emphasis on social sustainability – developing interiors and services to support health, comfort and well-being.
A recent rebranding and interior improvements have already made the building more inviting. Next steps include expanding services to reduce stress and make everyday life easier. These include healthy food options, wellbeing services and practical solutions to support work-life balance.
“Working towards environmental improvements is an ongoing process for us,” says Christin. “But in the future, we will increasingly focus on the social side of sustainability: well-being, comfort and services that support a better working life.”
The Front shows that sustainability is not a destination, but a journey. It is reflected in everything: in the experience of spaces, in the delivery of services and in the decisions that drive values.
